When people tell me I can’t do something. I’m a very independent person, and when someone says I can’t, I prove I can.
So today, some guy in my band told me I didn’t deserve to be drum major.
Want to know why?
Because I auditioned to be a sophmore drum major.
I marched my 8th grade year and my freshman year, which qualifies me for the part. During the audition, my band director himself told me that if anyone walked in the door and loved band more than me, he would be surprised. My devotion to band is undeniable.
So why would I not deserve to be drum major? I know I’m young and not as mature as the other people who auditioned, but I do not believe that being young makes me unworthy. I am a hard worker, but also a very encouraging and peppy person. I believe in myself and I believe I can make a good leader. I don’t go around telling people that they are unworthy of doing something they love.
Don’t ever tell me I can’t do something. Just a warning.
